Leading the Lions: The Rise of England Captain Raheem Sterling
From Humble Beginnings
Raheem Sterling was born in Kingston, Jamaica in 1994, but at the age of five he moved to London with his mother and three siblings. Growing up in the gritty North West London neighborhood of Wembley, Sterling showed an early talent for football and was soon scouted by Queens Park Rangers. However, his time at QPR was short-lived and he joined Liverpool's academy at the age of 15.Breaking into the Premier League
Sterling quickly made a name for himself at Liverpool, making his Premier League debut in 2012 and becoming a regular in the team by the following season. In the 2013-2014 season, Sterling was instrumental in Liverpool's title challenge, scoring 9 goals and providing 5 assists in 33 appearances. His performances earned him a place in the PFA Team of the Year and the Young Player of the Year award. After a controversial move to Manchester City in 2015, Sterling has continued to develop into one of the Premier League's most dangerous players. He has won two Premier League titles with City, scoring 36 goals in the process. In the 2018-2019 season, Sterling had his most prolific campaign, scoring 25 goals and assisting on 15 more in all competitions.Captaining England
